A Roundtable Discussion at the Researcher to Reader Conference is a moderated conversation amongst a diverse group of experts, where there is a range of opinions to be expressed and we have a lively and well-facilitated discussion amongst the panellists and with the participants. These are typically structured as a well-moderated expert conversation, with no formal presentations, lasting 45-80 minutes, including a large amount of interaction with the conference participants throughout. The Conference programme typically includes one to three Panel Discussions.

A Roundtable Discussion will not normally include any presentations or slides, or lengthy preambles, but will get straight into a lively conversation.
In the R2R Call for Papers, people who have proposed a Roundtable Discussion may be invited to adapt their proposal to another session type. People who have proposed other session types may be invited to adapt their proposal to be part of a Roundtable Discussion session. People may also contribute to more than one session at the Conference (for example being part of a Roundtable Discussion as well as facilitating a Collaborative Workshop).
Roundtable Discussion panel members and the moderator are strongly encouraged to participate in the whole Conference, not just appear for their own session, and are offered a discount on Conference attendance of 50% off the normally applicable early-bird tariff. Roundtable Discussion panel members and moderators are invited to the informal contributor dinner at the end of the first day of the Conference, at their own cost.
